I am often amazed at how much people will spend on the Big Box Store furniture. Do they really look at the quality of the furniture they are spending hundreds or thousands on? It looks pretty and appears well made on the outside but when you start poking underneath or behind the piece, most times you'll find that this gem of a piece is really not such a gem after all.
Even the big name mmanufacturers have cheapened their products by using wood composite or God forbid - pressed cardboard in inconspicuous place to cut production costs. And most have moved their factories overseas, so it's not even really American made furniture.
Give me a well-made vintage or antique piece of furniture. Back when America had pride in it's workmanship. When furniture was built to last into the next generation - to be handed down to children and grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. It may not be shiny and flawless, but it has character and durability that you will never find in the new furniture.
