Laura Moats—Artist and Writer

I have had many diverse jobs in my life, but in the end it all comes back to one thing; I need to make things. For years, I have struggled in jobs that suppressed my creativity. Now circumstances have given me the opportunity I've always wanted. A chance to focus on selling the things I love to make.

I am an artist and writer. I create original paintings and drawings. I also specialize in portraits of people or pets from photos. I enjoy a variety of media, and let the type of image dictate the best medium.

Currently, I am working on two books. In each book, I tie together my love of writing together with my love of painting and drawing.

In Portraits of Fibromyalgia, I wish to paint a picture, both verbally and pictorially, of those of us who suffer from fibromyalgia. This book is not the typical description of diagnosis, symptoms, treatments, and so on. Nor is it a self-help book that delineates step-by-step how to fix the problem and improve your life. Instead it is a means of providing empathy and awareness for a syndrome that is difficult for others to understand.
